Transylvania has captured the imagination and hearts of Europeans for hundreds of years, being first attested to by Dacians, nomadic tribesmen of south-eastern Europe 2000 years ago. Over the following millenia colonisations, by Romans, Hungarians, “Saxon” Germans and Romanians give it a rich cultural diversity. Also, having been fought over by both Europeans and Asians , Transylvania has a wonderful architectural heritage that makes a visit to this wondrous region well worth considering.
