Garden - stage 1

By admin | August 16, 2010

August was really hot, and only mad dogs and Englishmen stay out in this midday sun!

Here you can see some progress pics of us sorting the back garden out.  You can see the fantastic fence put in by Dan over the Spring, Dan making some flat stamping shoes, Andrei putting on his shoes, and then all of us planting grass seed and stamping the soil down.

After this, it was a matter of watering the soil regularly, shooing the birds, and waiting patiently for signs of green shoots, as ex-Tory Ministers might say.  We almost dried up the well with our constant watering of the soil in the morning and evenings.  Still, by the time we came back to the UK, at the end of August, there was nothing yet to show for all the work.  The garden is now in nature’s hands again, with a little help from Dan to keep things on track.  Next year we’ll start to think about plants and bushes and trees, but this year it was important to get the grass growing so we’d have somewhere to sit out next spring/summer, and somewhere for Alex to run around in.
